POP Class Portfolio due Thursday November 5

Portfolio's are due at the end of the POP class on Day 1. They are to be well organized, with a title page (that includes a personal picture) and divided into categories.

history 4 dance assignment

Tuesday November 3rd, the history 4 class will be doing presentations about various folk dances of Canada. The purpose of this class is to explore the origins, and the nationalities and different dances in order to gain a better all around understanding of the different people that make up Quebec and Canada. The 3 groups are expected to give a good demonstration of their dance, which the other groups will attempt to follow, and to give a report on the nationality of the dance, when where and how the dance came or was begun in Canada, and finally what is the history or background story of the dance.

Authentic costumes are not required but are appreciated.

Unit 2 Math Test October 27

Evaluation questions are due to be handed in at the end of the Period on Monday. The test will cover the introduction to algebra unit with the focus on the addition, substraction, multiplication and division of polynomials.

History 3 News Paper Project - Due October 30, 2009

Competency 1 - Examines History
Research and write up about a national and international story.
Topics for international story include: French Revolution, Napoleon, French English War, Catherine the Great, Pope Pius VI, The artist Rococo, French/English War, Marie Antoinette

Topics for a National Story include the following:
7 Year War; American Revolution; Arrival of the loyalist; James Murray; Guy Carleton, Bishop Briand; Creation of the Eastern Townships, Creation of Upper Canada; Creation of the first legislative assembly

Competency 2 - Explains
Through the work with the "extra sections" and their local story the student shows an understanding of the peiod.

There must be three of the following sections in the newspaper: Obituray, cartoons, sports, advertisements, weather, classified section

The local story is fictional must must have been possible


Competecny 3 - Defines
The editorial is a report about some situation that did exist from either the French or English point of view. (for example what did the French think about losing their Bishop.)
